It’s a win-win
I’m sitting at my desk engrossed in transcribing the Polish words mum’s taught me recently. There are only a few pages left and I resist getting up to put her to bed, even though it’s nearly 11pm. She’s been sitting in the kitchen, watching TV for hours on end, and I’m feeling guilty. Yasha, my eldest son, has just returned from a late evening walk and, famished, is preparing something to eat. No wonder there’s a mouse in the house
27.7.21 A cleaner came today from the agency, the first time since early March. I thought I better do some necessary tidying up before she arrived. While scurrying around mum’s room, I came across a book I had ordered during lockdown but had somehow misplaced. Mum had hidden it inside a larger book shoved to the back of her bookshelf. It felt bulky and on opening it I discovered a mouldy piece of pita bread wedged inside. The mould had already penetrated some of the pages. I

It’s God’s Plan
31.7.21 It’s early morning about 5am. As usual, I’ve had a late night and only a few hours sleep.There’s rustling in the house and I guess Lina, the housemate is already up.
